Just when all that remained to be done was to sign the contracts with the operator of the Angers ice rink to host the 2024 World Broomball Championships, in early December 2023 the managers of the Angevin facility informed us that they were withdrawing from the project in order to give priority to hosting the French Skating Grand Prix on the same dates.
The organizing committee is racing against time to find an alternative solution for hosting the World Cup in France.
Starting from scratch, the communes of Saint Gervais les Bains and Megève were approached at the end of December 2023.
After presentation of the dossiers to the local authorities, we received agreements in principle from the Palais des Sports de Megève and the municipality of Saint Gervais les Bains.
Today, in order to definitively validate this new option, a simple meeting is needed to agree with the constraints of the use of sports facilities by local clubs. This meeting is due to take place soon, putting an end to the question marks.
For this reason, we would like to wait before officially announcing that the 2024 World Cup will be held in France, in the Mont Blanc region, from October 21 to 26, 2024.
We are aware that a late announcement may cause difficulties in organizing your trip to France, so we will get back to you as soon as possible to help you enjoy a “French-style” broomball experience at the foot of majestic Mont Blanc.
Sportively
The organizing committee
2024 broomball world championships: last update
Early December 2023, a final step was necessary to sign the contracts with the operator of the Angers ice rink that would host the 2024 worlds. Unfortunately, at the very last minute, we were unexpectedly denied by the ice Icepark which withdrew from the project and gave priority to the French ice skating Grand Prix instead.
Since that day, France Broomball and the organizing committee have been racing against time to find an alternative solution for hosting the World Cup in France.
Starting from scratch, the cities of Saint Gervais les Bains and Megeve were approached at the end of December 2023.
After submitting our world broomball bid to the local authorities, we received approval from the local councils of Megeve and an agreement in principle from the mayor of Saint Gervais les Bains.
Today, in order to definitively validate this new option, a simple meeting is necessary to agree with the constraints of use of the sports facility by local clubs. This meeting should be held soon, putting an end to any questions.
For this reason, we wish to be patient before officially announcing that the 2024 World Cup will be held in France, in the French Alps, from Oct 21st to Oct 26th.
Dear broomball friends and authorites, we are fully aware that a late announcement may cause difficulties in organizing your trip to France. Trust us, we are fully committed into the project, trying to make things move faster, and we shall give you positive news as soon as possible so as to offer you an “A la française” broomball experience at the foot of the iconic Mont Blanc.
Sincerely
The organizing committee
